so the past month has been pretty much a roller coaster ride for me and another big moment in my life. last month i was unexpectedly let go from my position and it came as a big shock but that’s life, throws you those odd curve balls that you just have to take in the face. as one of my sayings in life goes, “everything happens for a reason” ; i was not going to let this get the better of me and dusted off my cv and sent it through to friends and recruitment agencies to see what happens. head and chin up i was staying positive thanks to the friendly people and twitter and my loving wife :) just one little bump was the fact that i was kind of planning a little surprise something for Mel and I’s 3 year anniversary but that went up in smoke :( hopefully sometime later this year or next year i can get to do it.

the friday night i received a very unexpected call from my ex ex boss ; it totally made my day. he said i should pop around the next week and come have a chat. the monday is exactly what i did. took the awesomely stunning drive to stellenbosch and spent a while there chatting to all the people there. the evening i had a long chat with Mel and what my plans where and all that. i emailed them in the morning to say i am considering. to make a long story short, i received an offer, went through and signed the acceptance letter and start tomorrow! going to be weird going back to work after not working for a month but i am stoked! bit worried though, april fools! i’m going to expect a few jokes tomorrow.

one of the sad parts about this month happened this week. i started practicing soccer at sunningdale back in january ; training and fitness been going awesomely. then 2 weeks ago we got told they only entered 2 teams into the league, 1st and 2nd teams. now the 1st team has already been picked but then they needed to choose a 2nd team from 26 players and it was going to be cut down to 15 players. there was 2 friendly games coming up and that was just supposed to be friendlies. we were supposed to have trials on the sunday but then they decided to have these friendly games as trials. the one problem i had with this was that they already chose a “1st” squad for the 2nd team and they played the one game while those while those that didn’t play was going to play the 2nd game. anyhoo, the problem with this was the “1st” selection was already with the fitter and better players. the game on saturday, when i played, was full of unfit, useless players who couldn’t kick a ball if their life depended on it and who also have not been down to practices. how am i supposed to play with these morons? and well of course i was supposed to play as a striker, but because of the unfit midfield, useless defenders,  i was tracking up and down between defense and striker. worst part was, the coach was only there for 10 minutes cause he had to go to some function. you call that proper trials? then on monday he sms’s to say “sorry, but you didn’t make the 2nd squad” yada yada. so yeah, i’m not training soccer no more which saddens me as i was looking forward to playing this season again. FFS. anyways, i got the number for a coach at bellville football club and will give him a ring tomorrow and find out the situation there. enough ranting about that now.
